heavy like
har

A Blizzard of One:
From the shadow of domes in the city of
domes,
A snowflake, a blizzard of one, weightless,
entered your room
And made its way to the arm of the chair
where you, looking up
From your book, saw it the moment it
landed. That’s all
There was to it. No more than a solemn
waking
To brevity, to the lifting and falling away
of attention, swiftly,
A time between times, a flowerless
funeral. No more than that
Except for the feeling that this piece of
the storm,
Which turned into nothing before your
eyes, would come back,
That someone years hence, sitting as you
are now, might say:
“It’s time. The air is ready. The sky has
an opening.”
- Mark Strand

Ame ni mo makezu
not losing to the rain
not losing to the wind
not losing to the snow nor to summer's heat
with a strong body
unfettered by desire
never losing temper
always quietly smiling
every day four bowls of brown rice
miso and some vegetables to eat
in everything
count yourself last and put others before you
watching and listening, and understanding
and never forgetting
in the shade of the woods of the pines of the fields
being in a little thatched hut
if there is a sick child to the east
going and nursing over them
if there is a tired mother to the west
going and shouldering her sheaf of rice
if there is someone near death to the south
going and saying there's no need to be afraid
if there is a quarrel or a lawsuit to the north
telling them to leave off with such waste
when there's drought, shedding tears of sympathy
when the summer's cold, wandering upset
called a nobody by everyone
without being praised
without being blamed
such a person
I want to become

WL:
What reason do people have . . . to work . . . harder than—than they have to to earn a living?
DP:
I can answer that for you ’cause I’ve already worked it out for myself and argued the point with a good many men. It’s the satisfaction of feeling that you have accomplished something over . . . and above the bare necessities in life. You take a pride. . . of doing the best that you can according to your ability. . . . I don’t have to go fishing. I can quit right now . . . and be comfortable. But just as long as I draw the breath of life I’ll be down in my boat in the mornin', at six or half past six in the morning, bound somewhere, doing all that I can, as best as I can, to the best of my ability and knowledge . . . because I take a pride in doing that, somethin' I know, and I feel that I’m doing something . . . important. And I’m happier doin' that than I would be sittin' round t' the beach.
A man with a New England conscience can’t sit still. Does that answer your question?

"...the key is to just relax and release, and deal only with what's left in front of you
...realize that life is giving you a gift, and that gift is the flow of events that takes place between your birth and your death. these events are exciting, challenging, and create tremendous growth. to comfortably handle this flow of life, your heart and mind must be open and expansive enough to encompass reality.......learn to stop resisting reality
...if you want to be content and enjoy your work, you have to let go of yourself and let events flow through you. your real work is what is left to do after all else passes through" -michael a. singer

“I get my ideas out of my dreams… if you’re lucky enough to use something you see in a dream, it is purely original. It’s not in the world — it’s in your head. I think that is amazing.”  ― Alexander McQueen

a tortilla is either corn or wheat
but a corn tortilla folded and filled is a taco
whereas a filled wheat tortilla is a burrito?
deep fry a burrito, it's a chimichanga
toast a tortilla, it's a tostada
roll it, it's an enchilada  - one day

only wish i could say exactly the same thing
"I do think things get better as you grow older in terms of gaining a real confidence,” she tells Marie Claire. “I'm less desperate. It's just wisdom. You've tried out a lot of things and you've failed a lot of times – you just get better at choosing things that are going to suit you better. Everything is a gamble. You've no idea where the journey is going to take you.” -rachel weisz

"Plywood People: How do you overcome “blocks” in your creative process?
Milena: I read and I do a ton or research. I talk to myself when nobody can hear me. I give myself time to “incubate” good thoughts...."

text vs.talk

"I hate texting. My two sons 32 and 21 will not answer a phone call, but if I text them, they will reply. I feel like I am being forced into it, despise it, and it is sad. It most certainly effects our bond. I do not have a text phone, but keep texting on my plan by the message. I work on computer all day in my job. So, the last thing I want to do is text someone. Even if I did, I find it very impersonal. I can understand texting in only very limited circumstances. Call me and we can have a real laugh, LOL." - Monicat

I do text but I don't like people LOL me
I do use my phone but not as often as I text on my itouch or pc
What would it be like for me to live w/o texting/messaging one day
Maybe i'll become weirder and weirder
I don't know how to converse sometimes, like brain just freezes
I heard most people don't give a f*** of what you say
So I should be okay

tried to find what is important and found this instead:
ask:
what do i want
what must i do to have it
how would i feel when i have it
so, what i really want is to feel -
i am part of something / feel like i belong somewhere in this world

Instructions for Life
These statements were falsely attributed to the Dalai Lama in an email hoax. They actually derive from advice in Life's Little Instruction Book: 511 suggestions, observations, and reminders on how to live a happy and rewarding life (1991) by H. Jackson Brown, Jr; More information is available on the hoax at Snopes.com
  1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
  3. Follow the three Rs: Respect for self, Respect for others and Responsibility for all your actions.
  4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
  5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
  6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  8. Spend some time alone every day.
  9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
  10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
  12. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
  13. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
  14. Be gentle with the earth.
  15. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
  16. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
  17. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
  18. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
